Here's the full lyrics to the song:
Going out each day to score
She was no wh*re
But for me
Celebrating every day
The way
She thought it should be
And I don't know what to do
Now that pink has turned to blue
She was always by my side
And never tried
To leave
Standing up for me
And like a tree
For what she believed
No more rope
And too much dope
She's lying on the bed
Angels pacing
Gently placing
Roses 'round her head
This song is window into the sad life of heroin users. Grant Hart was, and still my be, addicted to herion (check out his song All of My Senses from his solo album for a flip side to this version of heroin use). And tho these lyric are sad, when combined w/ the musical onslaught of Husker Du at the time it's more like being woken up after passing out in an alley by a punch to the fucking gut. It's that good.
