Private Helicopter Meanings & Lyrics Discussion by delial | SongMeaningsEdited by delial on January 15 2008, at 06:37PM" />
YES. another of my favorite songs ever. i think it's pretty obvious what this makes me think about, though it also makes me think of former friends, failures, and letdowns in general.
"no one's around to make us do what we're supposed to, so lie here in my arms..."
great line..

So, I made some really vague comments in my time on here. :P
To update my thoughts on this song, I've always felt it's a clever way of describing what it's like to run into an ex, be it an ex friend or ex lover, and how it feels to be close to that person again(proximity wise or whatever). You find yourself second-guessing whatever led to the demise of your relationship. It's a wonderful way of explaining how it feels to be falling back under the spell of the good parts of the person you loved to begin with.
You just want to cast aside all of the problems you both ran into together and simply enjoy each other again. (hence the part about holding onto grudges for too long, etc)
It sums up the confusion of wanting someone in your life again who you thought you'd said goodbye to for good, and the kind of desire you feel to have the good parts of the relationship back. I just love the imagery of being in the tiny space of a helicopter cabin with someone, where they're pretty much trapped...and the glimmering hope of rekindling something is stark between them. Like listening to Pandora's box creak open.
Edited by delial on January 15 2008, at 06:37PM
