This is the third instalment of Trevor Dunn’s series of songs concerning sleep. The first one, ‘Slowly Growing Deaf’ and the second one, ‘Carry Stress in The Jaw’ are both linked to body parts and their various functions; ‘S.G.D’ is obviously to do with hearing, ‘C.S.I.T.J’ is about teeth (alluding heavily with an exact quotation from that poor American poet, Poe) and Phlegmatics is about nasal discharge, &c. Dunn also pleads that his insufferable insomnia could at least, if not help to achieve things in the extra time it grants him, render him “at least [a little] useful”. I don’t like this song much… Carry Stress in the Jaw is better.
