Spiral Architect Lyrics

I think that this song could be about, that even though you life (or maybe even the world) is screwed up, it's still good to be here. If it wasn't, there would be no reason to keep yourself from commiting suicide. "Sadness kills the superman, even fathers cry". It's allright to be sad. Just don't let it take over your life (Don't turn goth, hehe).

By the way Denzil, Dio sings like he's some kind of knight. Ozzy emits an agonised wail, when he sings. So when you listen to Dio singing Ozzy-era songs (eg. on the record Live Evil), it sounds wrong. Technically he's a much better singer than Ozzy (Ozzy can't sing - he learned it) but that's exactly what's wrong. The Dio-era songs are allright, but I don't think they belonged in Black Sabbath.

I want to end this with a story about this lyric. When the bassplayer Geezer Butler wrote it (he wrote almost every Ozzy-era lyric), he phoned Ozzy and read it to him, 'cause he thought it was good (which I agree with). When Geezer had finished the first stanza, Ozzy answered him: "Are you reading this sh*t from a book?" Marvelous geniouses, they were (and are).
