Ode to the Sun Lyrics

My favorite song off of Catch Without Arms. This is probably wayyyy off the mark but I look at this song as a plead to celebrities who's 15 minutes of fame are over to let be.

I think he is using the metaphor of a car crash to symbolize the skidding halt of their celebrity. Anyone thats ever passed an accident on the highway knows that traffic slows way down while they pass it because every single person is rubbernecking, straining to see what happened. Once you pass the site traffic speeds back up to normal. In this case I think he is referring to the people who simply keep watching the people who don't want to be forgotten (ie. celebrities on reality shows like Vince Neil, Uncle Joey, etc.) because its just a natural instinct, like the instinct of looking at a car wreck if you pass by it, no matter how hideous.

The line "Please accept it's over, t his is all for you trancend" means simply "please except your 15 minutes are over...move on" and the main line that gave me this farfetched idea was "you've already set us free" meaning you've already entertained us or taught us something on a mass scale, there's no point in staying in the spotlight because there's nothing more you can offer to the people.

I wouldn't think think so deeply about these lyrics and just take them for what they are if it was any other band but I trust Dredg to force you to look beneath the surface of the lyrics and realize something not at first apparent. Also the current craze with celebrity-shows like The Surreal Life and Celebrity Poker that are a real waste of time (just like mostly all reality TV) helped put the idea in my head.
