I think this might be the perfect ending song of all time. It's very hard to write a song that sums up the entire theme of an album. The only other one I can think of is "Wake Up" by Alanis Morrisette, but the bonus track sort of screwed that sentiment to pieces. As I think about it, "Shelter from the Storm" is about Dylan finally detatching himself from his ugly relationship with his wife. From what I know, that relationship wasn't the best one on Earth. After he woke up and realized she might not come back, he still put up a candle for her because he still loves her and the candle is this song "Buckets of Rain". He must move on, but there's still a chance that they'll maybe find their way back to that candle and hopefully it relights the fire between them. I doubt if that ever happened, but we can idealize it in our imaginations. Bob Dylan is a master wordsmith and mental artist and I hope these songs live on forever.
