It seems to be more about walking away from a bad relationship/crush/obsession. "the light's always red in the rearview" reminds me of the saying "hindsight is always 20/20". "Desperately close to a coffin of hope" ... hope, in this case, being a bad thing, because if she keeps hoping for things to work out she'll never let go and move on.
"thinking about calling on Jesus" -- for strength? and the whole "love doesn't hurt so I know I'm not falling in love" (which is my favorite line btw) shows she knows what love is and this isn't it.
The whole "if this is giving up then I'm giving up" seems to be more about "call it what you will, this is bad for me, I'm walking away". Which to me is just reinforced with the "Maybe I'm not up for being a victim.....never be resistence enough". Just because you have feelings it's not always a good thing, and when a relationship is hurting you, you have to get out, no matter how strong the feelings are.
"Driving alone, finally on my way home..." In being alone she is finding the peace she is looking for.
