candy cane child, i agree with you, this song DEFINITELY stands out among the otehr on Get Behind Me Satan...it's really one of the only truly rocking songs...this is straight blues here, it's really an excellent song.
I think its about how Jack is frustrated with someone (probably a girl), and he relates it to nature. He says how it is instinctive (hence the title) that almost everything in nature gets 'it', and he can't understand why his girl can't 'get with it', and he's fed up
Maybe he's mocking her out, calling her an idiot? That would be a nice homage to Dylan's 'Idiot Wind'
