This song is about something that most will people go through at some point in their lives. There is no longer any pleasure in anything anymore, in ths song even the moon and stars hold look ugly and jaded, because this is how he feels at that time. There is no other place in the world he would rather be than at home with the woman he used to love and always will love. She obviously left him for some other guy, and it is quite simply killing him. He has to let her go. But unless she comes back to him, he will always be dreaming of her and nothing will ever look the same.
