Sardine, I wasn't aware that "popular belief" was that this song was about sex. It is clearly about love and companionship, and I believe the majority of Janis fans realize this. Of course, sex sometimes comes with "companionship"; and almost always comes with romantic love, but the song still isn't implying "sex". I think your mind is in the gutter, haha. = )
