I have a place I go to in my mind when I need to "get" away. This song speaks to that part of my mind. The second stanza has the slowest, quietest images I've ever heard and be that it is floating out and dancing on Enya's angelic voice, well that just makes it all that more special. What is slower and quieter than a whisper? what feels like breathing more than a "sigh of sighs"? and the ebb and flow of an ocean tide...quiet and slow. That is my favorite part of the song.
Like many of Enya's songs...there is obviously "hope" in this one...especially given the title.
It second chances and third chances and the stumble and fall and rise again we all do and a search for love.
And the line "One breath, one word may end or may start / a hope in a place of the lover's heart" . . . it speaks to me saying "be careful what you say, for one word can have much power to lift us up or destroy us."
