Well to me I think this song is about how you break up with someone but u still remain friends... "i try to talk to you cant get past the weather" well thats how your chatting, and find nothing else to talk about but the weather so the conversation is quite strained. So, this girl that he still likes (i dont know if i lied when i said we're not together) like, he broke up with her but he's not sure if thats what he really wants.. like, he's found someone else and has started other things with other people, but he still wants this one girl... hence all the unsent letters...
