This song is about being able to let go after a huge period in your life. He talks about "mark your place in time with another question why" thats all we ever do in life is question why. And we keep doing that until that period is over and then theres no reason to ask why anymore, because that time in your life is over. He says all you want is to find home, he's saying that all people ever want to do is find where they feel the most comfortable. Leaving a place that you've dwelled in for years is accepting the fact that you have to move on. I think this song is about the fact that when we leave a big period in our life we have to be alone for a time and then we have to find a new period to settle down in. This song is about being able to journey away from a place and from people and to collect your thoughts and then going to another place, finding where you belong after the fallout. Lonliness is only temporary, we have to have it to think about whats happen over the past few months, years. People they laugh, they cry, they get angry at each other, and then they move on, people go away and you find new people that give those feelings to you. Its about knowing that you made a difference, you left a legacy behind, and at the end of the day youre the one who has to walk away from it, the memories you leave behind are what matters, people have to accept that things wont last.
