This is an amazing song. I read an interview with Kimberly Goss and she said the song is about the way she was feeling over the last few years. She said the album "Suicide by my side" was basically a musical auto-biography.
Kimberly was really depressed because quite a few members of her family died around the same time, including her grandmother. After her grandmothers funeral she got into an argument with her mother because Kimberly owed her grandmother $400 and her mother wanted it. They haven't spoken since (and that was years ago). And Kimberly had all these other tragedies happening in her life.
She says she never really thought about killing herself. She would wake up in the morning and not be able to get motivated or anything. One of the only things that got her through was imagining her own death. It would make her feel peaceful and help her to carry on with her day.
Kimberly said, "The title "Suicide by my Side" is supposed to be the thought of suicide is what actually helped me continue every day. I don't know if that makes any sense to you, but the thought of me no longer existing made me feel a little more peaceful. I decided that I had to do something about this so i wrote about it. This album is basically like an autobiography of the last two years of my life."
