This song made me love Pod. Where The Beatles' version is sort of happy, this is very dark and disturbing, especially when she sings the chorus over the bass pedalling.
The interpretation The Breeders' made of the lyrics was that they were about heroin. It makes sense somewhat, especially with "I need a fix, 'cause I'm going down." The zippo at the beginning really seals it though. Beautiful song. It's unfortunate that Kim Deal did her best stuff while a junkie.
