I would guess that it's about being alone and desolate, and just needing someone to tell. The fox, the girl, the boy on the bike are all lost outside, freezing cold, pointlessly wandering when there is no food for the fox, no person for the girl to talk to, no destination for the kid on the bike. In this context the fox/snow are metaphors for a lonely person and the apparently cold and empty (emotional) landscape of the world.

But at the end there's hope - the 'kid in the snow' finds something. Love, I would bet - "It only happens once a lifetime/make the most of it." I love the deliberate incorrectness of "Second just to being born, second to dying too". What else could you do? You have to accept that love when you finally find it. Brilliant.
