See if you can catch the innuendo. Oh God, once someone pointed it out to me, I could never listen to this song without laughing.

Okay, so it's very metaphorical, but what of Wilcox's songs isn't? What is wildberry pie? Well... yeah, that. "Our love is like a red, red rose -- it leaves a certain subtle scent." -- Not subtle at all, is he? ;-) and then, "I'm lonely at work, now / My hand holds my" .. " chin". And "The scent takes me dreaming" -- what scent is that? Oh, now you get it.

Ah, cracks me up. It's a very beautiful song, and without that first real listen where the lyrics start making sense, you don't have a clue what it's about.

" 'David, I came to your concert etc. etc. looking forward to etc. etc. We were very disappointed we had to leave your concert because you had to play that song about Sex.' I don't know why I have to sing songs about sex... I mean they like it when I sing songs about what I believe. I just believe that sex is pretty nice!" -- David Wilcox, live.
