Everytime I hear it, I think about those B&W Gumshoe Detective 50's series - Dragnet, etc - the Chorus is so evocative of them - I can see Verlaine with coat and hat grilling down a suspect in a dark room with one lamp. Love the whistling birds part, and of course, the end - "This case is closed" - Mega!
