Ya king i think you pretty much got it. Though i dont know if its about pride so much as mindless competition. He says he just wont even participate.

He saying that Hes gonna bring his friends along for his ride. He has no desire to out do them. He probably just wants to keep some good company. Keep your friends on the same level and you can always have fun and get along.
