I love this song. When i first heard it on the radio, i was hooked.
I think this song is about a guy who meets a girl and its love at first site for him. He went after her and told her how he felt, but the feelings werent mutual. Hes a saddened man but is trying to convince the girl it is right (Undertsand Honey). He wants to have another chance and wants to know is she sure that the feelings arent mutual (If I could name you in this song, Would it make you smile and sing along, This is the goal to get into your soul, If I could make you dance with joy, Could that be the second chance to coy) He says that he knows he messed up by being too aggressive and he will ease up by being "tongue tied next time".
I think it is good when you go to someone and tell them straight up how you feel, sometimes it doesnt work and the situation will turn out like this one, but its easier to know than to play a game for so long and put so much into someone for so long and find out that its not all the same. I have experienced this situation before but i wasnt "tongue tied next time"
