i think this song is about how history is made on hypocritical terms. its a senseless loss of life, but when its over they say it was for a cause well worth it, but where are the results? its still the same trade off, life for money and greed. but noone cares and everyone can still sleep tonight confortably, when the situation was justified for "a good cause."
