So things got tough and he left. Another great line "I WANT to love her but I can't decide". He's not deciding b/w her and another girl. He knows she loves HIM and he desperately wants to love her back. She's giving him that "bedroom stare" of love and all he notices is the birds flying by; meaning that he's probably looking over her shoulder and not at her the way she's looking at him.
After he leaves she gets angry "fire in the heaven of the eyes I knew" - the loving eyes are gone and now filled with anger and when he tries to come back she won't listen and decides it's over between them:
