I think this song is about how the singer told someone he loves her, and then she says no (but he should have known she would)....so he comes back to her, knowing that as soon as he sees her face he will know if he should just turn around, or try again. And if he says everything he knows, will it change her mind? or will he end up driving home screaming the words to his favorite sad song in his car.
