Additionally, I find this tune almost uplifting. Afterall, with the title "So Damn Lucky", one would rarely expect the song to deal with drunken driving related death. It wasn't until I listened to it a couple more times that I realized, though the character asks "what will soon become of me", the fact that he realizes someone was his love is damn lucky in itself. He had someone in the world who cared for him, and though he's dieing she isn't. Some could justifiably argue that dying with something left to live for is even more awful than dying with nothing, but I think that the fact the character doesn't die feeling alone, but rather gives thanks to the fact that his love will be living on is a blessing in such a situation.
