"And I'm bottling up your soft, dream-like scent
In my head, for the ride home
I've been searching with bruised limbs for ways to get me going
For ways to get me going"
In the beginning of the song he is driving home after a time spent with a girl he cares deeply for. While he's driving he's thinking about everything he loves about her. And he's doing every thing he can to remember those moments spent together. (like, metaphorically, "bottling up your soft, dream-like scent....") And, as he is thinking about all of this, he is thinking about himself also. All the "bruised limbs," or broken hearts he's has gone through from other girls, and as he carries on with all these "bruised limbs" he's still looking for a new person (hopefully the one he's with now) that can give him "confidence to stare, And observe the world."
"If I could sleep forever
Would you still be in my dreams?
If I could sleep forever
Would you still be in my dreams?
In my dreams
If I could sleep forever
Would you still be in my dreams?
If I could sleep forever
Would you still be in my dreams?
Would you still be in my dreams?
Under the covers
Under the covers
Under the covers
Under the covers "
The song ends with him returning home, and lying in bed, still thinking about the girl. As he is "under the covers." He can only wonder, 'Could I see myself with this girl forever? Or is she only another broken heart?" And, just as those last seconds of him being awake pass by, he thinks to himself, "Can I dream forever about this girl?"(so that's why he asks "If I could sleep forever
Would you still be in my dreams?")
This song is some what of a story to me..
