The Ugly Organist Meanings & Lyrics Discussion by sporkit | SongMeaningsEdited by mellow_harsher on April 25 2007, at 09:54PM" />
i noticed something interesting about this intro to their latest cd. if you listen closely to this song its possible to can hear the lead singer tim screaming the first set of lyrics in "some red handed slight of hand". whats interesting in this version is he screams that he is the ugly organ and not "on the ugly organ" as he does in the next song. i thought it was pretty effing cool that he turned a metaphore (the organ representing pain) into physical sound.
tim thinks of himself as the ugly organ. alot of the lyrics on the cd mention his self loathing for verbally attacking his former wife and singing songs he considers to be “awful” or sinful. he hates himself for what he sings about and thinks of himself as an awful unpleasant sounding object.
listening to the cd its easy to hear the deliberate noise coming from the band. cursives songs are loud, noisy, unpleasant, and messy. just as the topics in the songs are ugly and violent so is tims music. he thinks of himself as the pain hes unleashes in his songs.
Edited by mellow_harsher on April 25 2007, at 09:54PM
