Are you guys all forgetting that slipknot fans are called "maggots"? By saying he was a "worm" before i am a man, hes saying that before he got into the bussiness, before anyone gave a fuck about him, before people knew him, he was the original "maggot".
By saying "Before i forget" hes saying that he wont ever forget that hes a maggot at heart, and no matter what anyone says, the "maggot" following always comes first in his life.
Also, in the firsty verse i think hes talking about how when hes dealing with people hes closed up, and "stapled" shut. But when he is with the "maggots" he can be himself and be normal.
