This song probably is about loneliness but it means something else to me. There was a rape on my college campus and after the assault, this song makes me think about how a rape victim would be feeling. When she sings "love don't show up in the pavement cracks" I think of how, when a person is raped, it is not an act of love, hence, when a person is forced to the ground (the pavement) no love can be found. The rest of the lyrics seem to be portraying a sense of helplessness or hopelessness. She's wondering when she'll be happy again, have "strength to live," and when she'll find her "comfort zone." When a woman is raped, I think she feels similarily. It may feel like her world has come crashing down and because sexual assualt is such a violent, intrusive act, the victim may feel like there is no safe place and she can never feel happiness again like she did before. Again, I don't think this was necessarily the story that was intended to be portrayed; it's just what it means to me.
