This is the only Def Leppard song I've ever heard, but it sticks in my mind very well... I love the meaning behind it.
Its about a guy who's recently broke up with his girlfriend whom he loves, and he can't get over her. He believes that she made him a better person, and that when she was around he changed. The phrases 'long long way to go until I can say goodbye' is not meaning actuall distance, but he's saying that it'll be a while until his heart will let her go. Everywhere he goes things are reminding him of her, from people on the streets to TV shows that have some connection to the girl.
I'm sure everyone knows what its like to be forced into a breakup and to have not gotten over the person for a while. How it feels like your soul isnt home, and you're just drifting through the world until something happens to pull you out of it.
The last few lines are what he's acting like to everyone else, telling her that he wants her to be happy even if its not with him. He says not to worry about him, because over time he'll get over her and when that happens he'll date someone else and he'll be complete again. But then the chorus pops in, saying that he really isn't over her at all, and he's still having big troubles moving on.
