Right through to the line "You check the pulse" I thought that the song was about dealing with contracts and promises that was made by others in the industry? For example:

Promise the kisses
Promise the girls
Things like getting/travelling the world, appreciation, women are all aspects associated with fame and all that. And then, when they're in the kind of status, maybe they were disappointed, either by their high expectations or by other people.
In the lines were they scream "That's life in the hospital" it strays from the first half of the song.. that's the part that i don't get. At first I thought that this was a love song, but it has other discourses in it....
