this song--to me anyways--is about a person who feels so completely hopeless that as they pray they laugh as in thinking...it's even ridiculous for God to want to help them. The line "won't somebody love ME for a start...I'm laughing as I pray" always makes me cry because to that person that request is so absurd that even they start laughing at themselves....
