I know this because I too am from Syracuse NY this song always reminds me of leaving home for that reason... as far as what the song acutally means I know Archimedes was born in Syracuse Greece and maybe that's where the line "(What he doesn't know Could fit inside a thimble)" comes from because he was a genius...
