wow, i didn't realize it had to do with Carnivale...is that the same as Mardi Gras? (they're from New Orleans, yes?)
Anyhow, i love the double meaning of "put on your mask, wearing your cape...". it's so beautiful. because on the one hand, the mask & cape hide her from her abusive husband and let her escape. but on ther other hand, it's like she's a super hero flying around & stuff. haha. it perfectly captures the duality of hiding & vulnerability with her courage & strength too. truly a tragic girl...so sad.
