I think its about living in a world of black. That we are planted here and living this melancholy existence. That when we know the seperation of the truth and the lies, we find out where they lie (no pun intended).
I was let on to one thing from a certain intelligent being:
Light can destroy darkness. But darkness cannot destroy light. It can merely cover it.
I believe we are all covered in a shell of filth and lies. That if someday a spotlight of truth were to shine on this world, it would be completely black. People would be covered in this muck, blurring and distorting the true lines of who they are.
"Maybe we're all the children of a star, misguided in direction, our
misdirection.
Pardon me while I pray for light.
(I'm not the only one...) that walks between the rain, there are many
(I'm not the only one...) when everything is lost that doesn't surrender"
This is my favorite part! It's like he's trying to relay that we are truly children of the light. And that we have been bent to believe the lies are the truth.
I do notice some irony mentioned in this song. How he pains when he questions how he has to go through everything alone (this fight against the lies).
Yet, he knows he's not the only one who has walked and seen what is really out there.
Which leads me to believe... a lot of people are surrendering themselves these days.
