I don't know what this song meant in the 70's, when it was written, but ever since 9/11, the lyrics really hit home!
"In a New York minute, everything can change"
"In these days, when darkness falls early, people rush home, to the ones they love"
"One day they're here, next day, they're gone"
"I know there's somebody somewhere can make these dark clouds disappear, but until that day, I have to believe, I believe"
-I never really thought about until one day, my local rock station was playing this song with quotes from the president (saying stuff like, "We will prevail" and that kind of thing) and Rudy Giuliani. It was pretty wild, and I hadn't thought about the lyrics in that sense. Now, everytime I hear it, 9/11 is all I can think about.

This song originally appeared on Don Henley's solo album "the end of the innocence" in the late 80's.
