This is by far my favorite Daphne Loves Derby song, if not my favorite song altogether. I don't think it has anything to do with any particular love. He is just desperately crying out hoping that love is possible, that it can be real. He wants all the pure and innocent beliefs he held as a child to turn out to be true, even though since he has grown up the world has taught him to believe otherwise. He wants to escape from this world of monotony and banality and go back to his most primary feelings where anything was possible, where the things he has held most dear are all in existence without fault. When I heard this it felt like my story, like if I could write well that this is what I would write, straight from the heart. Thank you, Kenny.
