I see it as a person who's lost a loved one, and she wants to commit suicide to be with him (I could be wrong but this is how I interpret it):
"Wings spread, poised, faintly convulsing the sky
How will I know? Bask now in this graying light"
The starting lines are about angels (which the loved one has now become) and she's question whether or not they are real cos she wants to be with the loved one that badly
"Search for that word - something likened goodbye
How will I know that they will cry?"
Obviously about her wanting to say goodbye to her life and wondering if her family and friends will miss her as much as she misses the loved one
"We were blessed (in this lifetime)
Laid to rest (all we live for)"
She's appreciating the good times and blessings her and her loved one recieved while they were still together, and she wants to 'lay to rest' to show this to him
"Voices ring on, autumn is always at hand
Angels corpses, hollow and stolen so fast"
Not too sure about this line, but autumn is a cold sharp season and she may feel like this about life without her loved one. She may be describing how God took her loved one away, 'hollow and stolen so fast'
"I heard your voice and it spoke softly to me
We have this time and then we're free"
She hears his voice in her sleep and that fleeting moment was all it took for her to know she can't live without him
