This is one of their best songs. I think if it was covered nowadays it would go down very well. I can totally see Jack White screeching through this, guiter wailing away.
I really think that this song is about the futility of saying that you're not like everybody else......we're all the same if you look at things a certain way.....and sometimes you can't avoid looking at it that way.
This could have been a really iconic 60s song if it'd been released at the right time, and been a fully-fleged A side. Also, as I always say, if the Kinks hadn't been banned from the US they would have been as big as the Beatles and I wouldn't be the only one to have commented on this classic record. Sigh.
