Erebus, the son of Nyx (night) and Chaos (chaos), embodied primordial darkness. in that last stanza, I think he's talking about how Erebus' presence is insulting to how bright he (the narrator) is shining, and of course he's shining (like ancient Troy) because of this girl he's in love with.
