i cant quite put my finger on this one but i think it's about how aclose friend of his betrayed him. but what made it worse was that he didn't even go behinde his back he did it right in front of him.
and i guess this was some sort of huge betrayl bc i think he leaves but something stops him and makes him turn back
and he see's how much, whatever it is that his friend did, hurts his mother and how much she missses him.
but i dunno. bc the chorus is so... deeply, and bluntly, about death that it doesn't realy fit with my scenario.

I think about someone sitting at a persons deathbed and the dying person is telling the other person that when i die i know you cry for me to come back but, you can't take back time. all that time we could have spent together but didn't...we can't have it back.
then as they're about to die they tell the person to look away and not to watch them die bc this is their fate for them to die and they have to go.
