Inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's short story,
which is recognized as the first detective story,
hence the Edgar Awards for Mystery.
It's told from the point of view of the companion of
M. Dupin, who used the deductive method of ratiocination
to solve seemingly impossible riddles.
Obviously the model for Arthur Conan Doyle's
Sherlock Holmes and his friend Watson.
Perhaps even Agatha Christie's Hercule Poirot.
The song has little to do with the actual story,
with references to the plight of the accused,
but nothing about the OurangOotang,
as I believe is the original spelling.
Incredible song from their best album!
