I think this song is about losing love. The verse that begins "but shades like shadows, only last a matter of space and time," is definitely about being torn apart. I don't know, though. I mean that verse just screams that to me, but there are other parts of the song that seem to say he wants to be with her forever. Maybe she left him and he can't let go.
