In Lip Gloss And Black he sings about how he has given everything for this person because of how much he loves them, yet in A Song For The Optimists he sings about he he'll do anything 'to get what I (he) want(s), what I (he) need(s)' All the sacrifices that he has made, and that he wants to finally work for himself. Even the 'Live, love, burn, die' part coincides with the 'Desolation, desire, exhale, pass away' part.
