this is just my view but i think the song is written about pete and carls freindship and the fact that both of them no its going to end

this lyric suggests that they are remebering the good parts of the freindship and the i no longer hear the music is them saying they have no feelings for eachother anymore
BUT on listining to this song again i found another meaning they could be singing about a girl who has left one of them......
