I also think there's a dual meaning, but I get confused sometimes when I listen to it. In the 2nd verse it sounds like he's talking about God the father but in the 3rd verse it sounds like he's talking about his biological father.
The third verse is about God also, it's about finding him. "And turn the other way" is like he's being reborn (not physically)
