I agree with heavens_mistake about the song being kinda ironic. That's how I see it. She is in love with this guy so much, that she has herself convinced that even though he's an ass, he has good intentions and somewhere underneath it all he's a good person who loves her too. I feel like that sometimes. I really love this song even though it reminds me how I can be pathetic like that too. My favorite part is:

And somehow I'm full of forgiveness
I guess it's meant to be."
That is how I feel about my significant other sometimes. If it wasn't meant to be, I would've dropped him by now, right?
It can also be taken to mean that she sees the good in him like no one else can and that's why she loves him so much. That's a happier way of seeing it.
