This song, to me, is about Akasha. Lestat's obsession with her somewhat haunts him. She offered him her blood (Your blood is mine) and he feels he should be her King. Yet, at the same time, he is torn. He doesn't believe in her vision of the future. So, while he burns to have her, he doesn't want to submit to her ("Must you tempt me and provoke the ministy"). "I will not die" is his refusal to submit to her, to lose his independence. However, "I can't relate to a happier state, feeling the blood run inside" talks about how when he drinks from her, nothing else matters, he is in a state of extreme bliss. I have more support to this, but I should not think it pertenent to post. I'm sure anyone that cares has gotten the idea thus far. I will say, however, this fits slightly better with the book than the pitiful excuse for a movie the song was written for. Jonathan Davis did good in writting the songs to fit the books.

I agree with your take on this song and your assessment of Davis's writing skillz.
