I think in this song he's talking about a relationship. It sounds like he's fed up with her and trying to be what she wants him to be "I'm done having to apologize/ I'm done living inside your eyes" but at the same time he doesn't want to be alone and maybe the reason he's sick of trying to be what she wants him to be is because he CAN'T be what she wants him to be "what I have will never be enough
