I never read it like that. I read the title as "don't dream that it's over". I actually don't think it's about a girl or guy at all. It's a commentary on what's been going on in the world. "My possessions are causing me suspicion but there's no proof" makes me think of criminal profiling. But while all the world seems to be heating up and getting ready for a huge cultural war, most of us skip that part of the news to the tv page, pop culture, the newest clip about michael jackson... We're on the precipice of many great battles, and we won't win them all, but the enemies trying to divide us won't win because we won't let them. I think the song's about not thinking the world is over but just marching on ahead through the shadows and standing tall.
