By far the most heartfelt song by Van Morrison. I just love it so much. It is about a guy (Morrison) who isn't with his lover any longer. For whatever the reason he is trying to deal with the fact that she is not with him anymore. He wants to go to the "well" of her love, but the well is no longer there.
He has no idea why she left him but the pain is so great he just wants it to "recede in the darkness from whence it has come."
The line he keeps repeating, "Everything I do reminds me of you," could not be anymore true when someone breaks up with you and you are still in love with that person. No matter what you do you could find something that will remind you of that person you are still in love with.
